Greythorn Central will come alive on Saturday 5 September as the Greythorn Traders Association invites shoppers, visitors and local residents to celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a morning of community, colour and connection.
Discover the new Greythorn story seat
From 10am–1pm, we welcome everyone to visit the newly installed Greythorn Story Seat, a vibrant landmark that transports readers through the evolving landscape of Greythorn.
Located at the corner of Agnes Avenue and Doncaster Road, beside Muscle, Joint, Bone, the Story Seat has been proudly delivered through a generous grant from the North East Community Fund, with additional support from the Greythorn Traders Association and Boroondara City Council.
Committee members will be onsite to share historical anecdotes and insights into Greythorn’s rich 150‑year history. Local residents will also have the opportunity to receive a complimentary copy of Faces of Greythorn book – a treasured keepsake chronicling the precinct’s development since the late 1800s.
Celebrating fathers and families
This special morning is dedicated to honouring the wonderful fathers and families who make our community so strong. To mark the occasion, we’ve organised entertainment and activities for all ages from 10am-1pm:
- The Furlan Choir returns with a beautiful ensemble of songs in both Italian and English, offering heartfelt tributes to fathers.
- The Amazing Mr Twist will roam the precinct creating his delightful balloon masterpieces, bringing smiles to children and adults alike.
- Free coffee vouchers will be gifted to dads as a small token of appreciation for the incredible role you play in your children’s lives.
- And, weather and facilities permitting, we hope to fire up a sausage sizzle to add to the festivities.
