My Name is Maria Martinez
I am the founder of Small Steps Allied Health Practice, driven by a fervent belief in providing equal opportunities for individuals with and without disabilities to achieve their personal goals. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed, and I am deeply passionate about promoting inclusivity within the community.
I began my journey in health and fitness after moving to Sydney, NSW, where I graduated from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) with a BA (Hons) in Human Movement, majoring in Applied Kinesiology, along with a Diploma in Education. I am currently completing my Master’s in Strength and Conditioning at Edith Cowan University (ECU).
Before obtaining my degree, I worked as an Exercise Scientist in various sectors, including corporate, private, and commercial, collaborating with companies such as Arnott’s and Coca-Cola. For over 23 years, I’ve run my own Exercise Science and hockey coaching business, travelling throughout regional NSW to promote talent camps and coaching clinics.
After completing my studies, I was recruited by isport.com to represent Baseball Australia, delivering presentations to grassroots organisations across the country.
In 2018, I founded Small Steps Allied Health Practice to support individuals of all ages with a range of disabilities, including physical, cognitive, and sensory impairments, with a focus on rehabilitation and enhancing their quality of life. We work with specialised physiotherapists, podiatrists, and mental health practitioners to support our participants.
Looking to the future, I am committed to expanding my knowledge and skills to enhance my professional practice and continue providing valuable community support. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for Small Steps Allied Health Practice.
